Reminder: Rumi's Vision of Universal Love
Saturday, August 31, 2019 10:30 AM - 1 PM
Only Breath - Rumi
Not Christian, or Jew, or Muslim
Not Hindu, Sufi, or Zen
Not any religion or system.
I am not from the East or the West
Nor out of the ocean or up from the earth
Not natural or ethereal
Not composed of elements at all.
I do not exist, am not an entity in this world or the next.
My place is the Placeless, a trace of the Traceless, neither body nor soul.
First, Last, Outer, Inner, I am only Breath.
--Translated by Imam Bilal Hyde, August 29, 2019
Alas, don’t tell me the Christians are lost.
Don’t tell me the Jews are lost.
Don’t tell me the Infidels are lost.
Alas, my friend, you are lost.
That is why everyone else seems lost.
--Rumi Quote, Tafsir on Surah Fatihah, Translated by Imam Bilal Hyde, August 29, 2019
My heart is capable of every form:
A cloister for the monk, a temple for idols, a pasture for gazelles, the Ka’aba for pilgrims, the tablets of the Torah, and the book of the Qu’ran.
I follow the religion of Love;
Wherever way Love’s camel turns, I will follow that way, my creed and faith.
--Ibn al-Arabi from Tarjuman al-Ashwaq translated by Imam Bilal Hyde, August 29, 2019
